Messy Church takes place the 4th Tuesday of every month in Mosspark bowling club. To give you a sense of the enthusiasm of both the children and the team hear is an extract from Brendas email after our Dec Messy Church.
What a fantastic night for the families and for ourselves. Hazel cooked up a superb selection of delights for our Christmas party – all eaten up and thoroughly enjoyed. Kirsty had made us a Gingerbread House which Eva had helped decorate and it was a magnificent centrepiece – a shame to cut into it! Thank you Kirsty!
Susan had a lovely craft to start with – a nativity scene which involved, crayons and glitter glue! The families literally all got ‘stuck in’! Then it was onto a magic trick which worked out extremely well. Susan hasn’t explained the ‘how’ to us yet . Maybe if she told us she might have to kill us – or make us eat more chocolate!!
Then it was time for food and everyone rushed through. The table was set with the most chairs it could take – 22 and five of the team just busily passed things around - Pizza, Sausage Rolls, Chicken Pops, mini quiches, sausages, a variety of crisps and more that I can’t remember - and did well standing, smiling, with probably very sore legs.
Lots of spoiling tonight – party food, the Gingerbread House and then a choice of icecream in cones smothered with sauces and bowls of sweeties! Wow what’s not to like!!
The children were amazed when they were told that Santa was calling in to give them presents. Even the boys of 7 were captivated with their presents! One wee girl rushed to her Mum and said ‘Santa brought this present for ME!’ in a very excited voice. Neil Buchanan did an extraordinary job as Santa and Christine was his very good gift giver.
Just before Santa we had gathered in a circle and thanked God for each and everyone of us in that circle and had a sing song .
Life doesn’t get any better than that. The families went on their way smiling happily, clutching their presents and with the January date in their heads for the next Messy Church.
