Acts 15:36-41
Here is one of the great shockers of the New Testament. Paul and Barnabas, his early mentor in faith, fall out and do so big time. Barnabas wants young Mark to travel with them on their next journey, Paul is against it. Mark had previously let them down. He had been a young man who panicked when facing angry mobs and Paul was not prepared to risk his next journey with a companion who didn’t match up. Paul was quite unforgiving in this episode and that is a shame but Luke told the story for a purpose – the purpose being there will be splits in the community but look what happened, two great journeys carrying the word of God were made instead of one.
