Deuteronomy 8:1-10
This is an interesting passage for those of us in the affluent 1st World. The writer reminds the people of God how hard the wilderness was but God fed them despite their disobedience. God led them into a “land flowing with milk and honey”. Look at that description in verses 7-10: what a place!
The issue is scarcity or abundance: which is the greater problem for humanity? We could be forgiven for thinking that abundance has created more of a threat to spiritual growth. Beware, is the message, that having more than enough can be bad for you.
