Acts 5:33-42
The apostles have been taken before the Council having been found guilty of disobeying the earlier instruction to desist from preaching about Jesus. Some of the Council want them executed. Gamaliel, a noted scholar and devout man, urges caution in that, if the Jesus movement is of God they would be seen to oppose the will of God, if it is a human invention motivated for some other purpose, then it will fail.
