Numbers 5:5-10
In this part of the Book of Numbers we have a quasi-legal context. Wrongs have to be put right. At one time before civil law emerged in the western world ecclesiastical law prevailed over all of society. In this passage we see something of the origin of that practice. It was an obligation under God to make restitution for any wrong committed.
