1st Thessalonians 4:9-12
Paul is praising the church at Thessalonica for their care for each other. They seem to be very kind, not only toward their own community but toward other church communities in the region. He does however enjoin them to live good lives, minding their own business, working to provide for themselves and do all this in a quiet humble way. In this way they will show the attractiveness of the Christian faith to outsiders. His concern was that some of the Thessalonians had given up working and instead were idling, speculating on the coming of the Lord thus being disruptive and a burden to those quietly living the Christian life.
The Christian has to live their life purposefully in anticipation of the second coming. Good advice.
