Romans 8:18-24
Unusually we continue our reading from where we left off on Friday.
Paul has just finished writing about the suffering and in this passage he is moving on to hope. He writes of a world where decay is the dominant reality but one day there will be the glorious realisation of God’s purpose (think Garden of Eden). In the same way we wait for the birth of a child the creation will one day be born anew: not just humanity but creation also. This piece is about God finally redeeming the whole creation that was corrupted in, “the Fall” (Genesis 3). We have been given the gift of the Spirit but we await, in hope, for the fullness of what God intends for both humanity and the created order.
