Acts 27:13-44

We continue the story from yesterday.

The storms are raging around the ship Paul is travelling on to Rome and it is going badly for them. There is heated discussion about the wisdom of having proceeded on the journey when they knew it would be dangerous; the crew are tossing overboard anything heavy that might impede them including the main cargo. The storm continued to rage for fourteen days. Some of the crew wanted to get into the lifeboat and leave the prisoners, including Paul to perish, while others wanted to kill them. It was desperate, but eventually the master realised they were nearing land and was anxious about running the ship onto reefs.   After more anxious arguments and actions, this is what happened and they were shipwrecked on Malta. Paul never wavered in his belief the God would not let them perish.

Of the over three hundred churches that are on the island of Malta, one is called, “St Paul’s shipwreck”.
