We invite you to the workshop (masterclass) in the Ukrainian Easter tradition of decorating Easter eggs known as pysanky. The name for these Easter eggs —pysanka is derived from the Ukrainian verb pysaty, which means “to write”. Traditionally, pysanky are written with hot beeswax, which is applied to the surface of the egg with the help of a special tool “kistka”. Ukrainian Easter eggs often feature complex geometric and floral designs.
In this pre-Easter time, we invite you to create an Easter egg with us - a symbol of peace and new life, which the brave Ukrainian people so long for.
The workshop is conducted by Natalia Yanishevska [whom many of you will have met at Coffee & Conversation] Natalia is an artist and art critic, who has been fond of painting Easter eggs since childhood, perfects the author's technique and teaches this art to others. Her works are in private collections around the world.
