St Luke 24:44-53.
The Ascension is important as it is the bridge between humanity and God in that Christ has returned to the Father - the divine plan and in doing so entrusted his followers to continue his work

Acts 27:13-44
The journey is dangerous for all on the ship. They are panicking but Paul assures them Go will not let them perish. The crew aren't so sure but Paul is. After 14 days in storms they are shipwrecked on Malta. All do survive.

Here is the 3rd of my trilogy of recent evening shots in my collage creations.

Particularly wanted to share this the sun was setting over Cardonald Parish church ; the signpost give' s us ideas of places and routes to venture in the future ; - Renfrewshire/ Breahead shopping where its quite nice to walk along the riverside, farther on to Paisley with its flower beds , river and Abbey with its shop and cafe !

Finally that evening, I thought, why shouldn't I take that shot of the AA vehicle? It shows and remind drivers of an available service at this time....I thought

A quick recipe to use up a tin of corned beef from your cupboard!!
1 Fray Bentos tin corned beef, chopped
4 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped
1 medium sized onion, chopped finely
1 red chilli pepper, chopped, or 1 teaspoon chilli flakes

Put knob of butter into a wok or large frying pan and heat till almost sizzling. Add onion and chilli pepper and cook until onion goes "clear"
Add chopped tomatoes and stir well, and finally
Add chopped corned beef and stir and cook well until thoroughly hot.
Serve with baked potato, or a side dish of fresh salad veg

Gives a nice hot meal when it is difficult to get out shopping.

Acts 7:17-40
Stephen's defence at his trial.
He is suggesting that his generation was no better than previous generations of Jewish people in that they had made an idol of temple worship which detracted from truly following the way of God.

Plant Sale Scone Recipe...

8/5/2020

As tomorrow would have been the 2020 Plant Sale, I would normally have spent some of today preparing the rubbing-in stage of the 200 plus scones I'd be baking tomorrow morning. In case anyone is missing the scones and fancies making their own, I thought I'd share my recipe. I've experimented with a few other recipes including the National Trust one and the House For an Art Lover one, but I this is the recipe I always go back to. This will make about 8 scones using a 5-6 cm cutter. I usually double it up as the scones don't last long in our house.

250g self-raising flour
pinch salt
50g margarine or unsalted butter
25g caster sugar
50g sultanas
1 medium egg, plus milk to make up to 1/4 pint

Pre-heat the oven to 200 C
Put the flour & salt into a large bowl, add the marge and rub in until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. I use Stork (the tub version). If you're using butter or block margarine a good tip is to grate it in as this makes it easier to rub in.
Add the sugar and sultanas and give it a good mix.
Break the egg into a measuring jug, beat lightly & add milk so that you have 1/4 pint of liquid.
Add the egg/milk mix to the dry ingredients, keeping back a little to brush on the scones before baking.
Give it all a good mix with a fork and then use your hands to bring it together.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface or a sheet of baking paper and press out until it about 3cm thick.
Cut scones out using the cutter and put on a baking tray. I usually line my baking trays with baking parchment as it means the scones don't stick to the tray an saves on washing up.
Brush tops and sides with the reserved egg/milk mix and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Totally agree with Tom's sentiments in to-day's "Thought for To-day", and it was nice this morning to be able to give a wee knock on the window to clap the man who had come with the lorry to empty our bins, and to get a big smile and a thumbs up from him as he went on his way, whistling!

Now I am wondering just how I can tell the milkman how much I appreciate getting my morning pinta delivered each day!!!

An irrational fear??
When I was in primary school (thousands of years ago?!) one day coming home from school I tripped just outside our home, and fell, coming down, as we say, "a real cropper!" Of course, as kids do, I howled for my Mum, and in the house opposite where we lived, there was a family waiting to have a rabid dog taken away to the pound for destruction. Their front door was open, and the dog, hearing me screaming, pulled hard on his lead, which overturned the chair to which it was attached, and ran out of the door and jumped on top of me! Of course, it was followed by quite a few adults, who managed to get the dog away before it bit me, but, being adults who enjoyed a happening like this, comments like "Oooh, she could have been bitten and contracted rabies!" and comments like that! It left me with an irrational fear of any of our four-footed canine friends, and to this day if you happen to be by my side, and I quickly walk round you if someone approaches with a dog (even on a lead!), you will know why!!
BIG BRAVE ME?? I think not!!

Thanks to him we are still able to see the sanctuary and hear our choir. Well done John
