POM POM!
You might know that I knit little toys.
Some for wee girls, and some for wee boys.
So I still had some wool in my box
And instead of then knitting some socks
I chortled aloud with some glee
And I thought "There's enough there for me
An octopus for to create
With legs too - 'cos it will need eight!"
And so, knitting needles I took
And for some white wool I did look
The body then grew that there day
And I thought as I studied it, "Hey!
That's not at all bad!" So the seam
I sewed up, and I had a wee dream
Once e-ve-ry bit had been done
I would give it to one little son
Of friends who live in a nice flat
Upstairs from me - that would be that!
So on I did get with my knitting
And lastly a nice wee cap fitting
And eyes and a nose I sewed on
The blues I had had were now gone!
Now, what else did I have to do
Before said wee son, he could view?
Ah, yes, a pom-pom the wee hat
It would need, and then that would be that!
Two circles I cut from some card
Then coloured wool cut by the yard
And wound the wool round nice and tight
Being sure that I got it just right!
Then with scissors I cut that bright wool
Taking care, 'cos I'm nobody's fool!
Not to cut my wee pinky or thumb!
Then, stitching the legs to the tum -
Oh yes, it looked great...but I pondered
As I studied the toy - I had squandered
A lot of the bright coloured wool
On the pom-pom - I was such a fool
The pom-pom I'd made was too big!
And though Isaac'd not care a fig
In my eyes it just wasn't right;
So scissors I took, nice and bright
And "clip-clip" I went, with a frown,
I cut that big pom-pom right down!
And you've probably guessed - 'cos you're bright
That, no, I did not get it right.....
When I get just a wee bit more time
Another I'll make.......
...........'n' end this rhyme!!!!!!!
