The Sherbrooke building is 125 years old in 2019 and it is our hope to mark this by making improvements to the main doors to the sanctuary and the vestibule. The intention is to install glass doors at the front of the building behind the wooden doors currently there. When the building is open we would have the wooden storm doors opened but the vestibule would be protected by the glass doors allowing light into the vestibule while at the same time retaining the heat. The vestibule would have new lighting installed and be repainted. There is also the possibility of placing glass panels in the inner doors into the sanctuary making access into the sanctuary as open as possible.
This appeal will be launched at the beginning of March with a coffee morning being held on the 24th March to give it a little boost. Please support the 125 appeal by contributing to the fund in multiples or variations on the number 125. It could be 125 pennies, it could be 125 pounds, it could be multiples of 125, whatever, but it will be good to see the appeal total rise that we can have the doors and the vestibule renovated in time for the 125th. Anniversary of the original building. We hope, within the very near future, to have figures for you about the cost but the thinking is it will be about 10,000-12,000 pounds.
